Bio Janet is the daughter and youngest child of wealthy military scientist Vernon Van Dyne, raised in Japan, Germany and the USA as a result of a childhood in the airforce. She grew up spoiled and flighty, painfully ashamed of her status as a mutant. She hid her abilities from everyone but her father and her college roommate, Betty Ross, eventually revealing them to her future husband, Dr Henry Pym. Janet has a double PHD in Biogenetics and Genetic Manipulation, as well as designing her own high fashion line. |
 |  Janet married Hank Pym when she was 22, two years before graduating from the University of Albany in New York. Their relationship was one of highs and lows; the two shared an intense passion due to Hank's Bipolar disorder, as well enduring the resulting arguments and violent conflicts. After Janet pushed Hank too far during one fight he lashed out, breaking her cheek and nose, ptompting her to leave him for good. They are currently filing divorce papers, but are on speaking terms. Janet has reclaimed her maiden surname of Van Dyne. |
 Janet has since come to terms with her mutant identity, although still keeps it as a closely guarded secret. She has claimed her abilities to shrink, grow wings, and fire sonic 'stings' are a result of allowing Hank to experiment with bonding insect DNA to her own. Janet helped to form the superhero team The Avengers at age 25, becoming a core member of SHIELD in the process. She enjoys her life in the public eye, both as a superhero and as a socialite. She frequently suffers from feral episodes, in which she reduces her size, cuts off human contact and has been known to build nests and go so far as to ingest smaller bugs. |
 Janet is being played as a blending of canon, most notably core canon and the Ultimates universe. Civil War/Secret Invasion is not to be considered a part of her canon, as she is obviously not dead.
